My Words for Blake

Words... Sometimes so hard to find. How can you sum up one short life in a very short time, with the least amount of words? When I think of of Blake, there are so many words that come to mind. The first words I think of are Son, grandson, Brother, cousin, nephew, friend. Then it can expand a little ...

In Memory of Blake Howard Wayland

On March 1, 2005, At 11:25 p.m., Blake Howard Wayland ended his battle against Leukemia. He went in peace, in his sleep, surrounded by many of his loved ones, knowing he was loved by all, knowing he had touched so many lives, many of those people he had never met, but took him in as one of their own...

Blake has been doing relatively well. He got an infection in his face that made him look like a blown up tick, but after a big antibiotic IV on Monday, he's returning to normal. After rising rather fast to over 70,000 (5,000 - 15,000 is normal), Blake's white blood count is falling with the help of ...

First off, let me say... Blakes white counts are continuing to rise. The have provided us with an oral Chemo to help keep them down, but they are afraid to drop them too low because of the fungal infection in his lungs. Child Life at the hospital has been wonderful, and they have done so much for us...

Nothing much new to report. Just taking it day by day. In the meantime, Blake continues to be feeling well, and doing the things he enjoys doing, including taking a short ride around on his dirt-bike. Tomorrow, Blake returns to the clinic to have his numbers checked. More to come when there's more t...

Blake is still feeling well, and has been able to stay out of the hospital. His counts are well enough that he hasn't needed any blood products as of yet. Blake and the family had a wonderful Christmas. Me and his cousin Doug got to take him out Hunting Friday... Blake said it was the time of his life. Seeing him sitting there, as cold as it was, never complaining, with a huge smile on his face the entire time, made it hard to believe exactly how sick...

Blake continues to get stronger and he's feeling like his old self.

He's awaiting a CATscan of his chest to see if it is clear and a bone marrow aspiration to check what's going on with his bone marrow.

Besides that, now much has changed.
