Blake Wayland

Not much to report... Much of the same. Blake has been trying to eat ice cream and icees, but he usually just throws them back up. They are hoping to have him off the Methadone by this weekend sometime... Hopefully he'll start feeling even better once he's off that.

Now, the server issues should be cleared up! hopefully we can get back to the business of sending Blake messages and posting updates.

Blake is doing pretty good right now. He cannot keep anything on his stomach, everything he tries to eat or drink, comes back up... They don't know if it's from the ...

Blake got up and used the toilet today (The one that's just out there in the open in the room)... He didn't get up and walk on his own, but was able to do it with much help.

His blood count is at 500 and never went down to 100 like they wanted. The Doctors are sure his bone marrow has been ...

Blake had a little upset stomach last night, but all in all, a good night. Definitely has days and nights mixed up... was up watching Animal planet and cartoons a lot last night... I guess that means he'll sleep most of today...

We'll get him straight soon... It's like a bad case of Jet Lag... A ...

The Tube is now gone!! Blake is on oxygen, but he is off the ventilator.

He is resting comfortably, with a sore throat of course, but he is breathing completely on his own now... Hopefully, in a few days, he'll be back out on the floor and out of Intensive care, and on the road to recovery!

Blake was awake most of the night (I guess almost 3 weeks of drug induced sleep gives you that much rest)... He's withdrawing from the medication so they have him on Methadone.

This morning, he's been sleeping. Must have his days and nights mixed up.

They have decreased Blake?s sedation medication and Blake is very awake. He is responsive and watching TV. He has been up much of the night and morning. They hope to remove the Catheter today and the breathing tube tomorrow or Tuesday. The change has been almost miraculous... But that?s what happens ...

Here it is... September 11, 2004... A nations day or mourning and Blake is doing about as good as he has been doing. Today, it seems everyone else is in a funk.

Tammy went to what would have been his first football game today. They lost, but gave it their all. I'm proud of that team.

As for proud ...

The morning x-ray showed his lungs as white (bad) and full of fluid (or surrounded with fluid).

After draining the fluid off from around his lung, the new x-ray showed all black (good)... They don't think that the fluid will return due to the fact that they are getting off as much as they are ...

Just returned from the hospital... They drained almost a liter of fluid off from around Blakes left lung. Hopefully this will help his breathing and make the recovery quicker, but who knows... the Doctors don't even know, so all we can do is hope and pray.

He's sleeping peacefully at least.

Blakes temperature spiked to 100.4 a bit ago (still better that 105).

The doctor was not worried about the x-ray because "these things are expected". Blakes lungs sounded good, there is good air movement in them and he's utilizing all the oxygen they are giving him.

His panic was due to waking up ...

Well, here we go again, just when things started looking up again... Roller coaster down...

Blake's chest x-ray was significantly worse than yesterday. It shows fluid around both lungs now. He woke up earlier in a panic and re-sedate him heavily. They also had to go back up on the ventilator ...

Not much to report. Doing better, and did well all night. Haven't received the report from the morning x-ray.

Physical therapy came in to assess him. Muscles are good and he has good range of motion. He'll start that once off the ventilator and off the sedation medication. Of course, he's still in ...

Blake is looking really good. You can see his neck and "Six Pack" really nice now, so the fluid is coming off. They have lowered the settings on his ventilator even more now and they are going to begin to take him off the medication. He'll be out of it for a while still. His chest x-ray is an ...

Blake is improving... little by little, but he's improving. The doctor says his lungs sound better and he rested well last night. When they suctioned him out this morning, they got nothing out. His fever spiked to a whopping 100.4 this morning! No more 105's (hopefully).
