Click here for Oct 31, 2004 update, Blake out of PICU

Last night, Blake was moved out of the PICU and into a private room... His temp peaked at 101 last night, the lowest it's peaked, so it seems he's turned the corner again on his way to come home.

Blake continues to have a fever between 101 and 105.

He has a gram positive infection in the Hickman catheter in his chest, and they are waiting on the "Name" of the bug so they can zero in on it and treat it correctly.

More to come when there's more to come.

Click here for Oct 26, 2004 update #2, return to the PICU

Blake's platelets level is extremely low... 1,000... on top of that, his temperature has been between 102 and 105 all day. He is getting bruises all over him due to the low platelet count. They have moved him to the PICU to monitor his vitals and so he can have a nurse that is dedicated to just him,...

Blake continues to do well. He went back to the clinic today where they had to give him 2 pints of blood. He was pretty upset and didn't really want to be there, but he realizes these things are going to happen. It's pretty rough going on him, but at least he has a video game and VCR at his disposal...

Well, after another 8 days of Chemo and a 9 night hospital stay, Blake got out of the hospital yesterday. He was extremely happy (of course) about that. He got to go to his Dad and Stepmom's house for the night (and today). This was the first time he got to sleep at his dads in a very long time, and...

Blake had a great weekend. He's continuing his Chemo and will finish up round 2 tomorrow morning, and they are hoping he can come home sometime during the day tomorrow. His spirits are high and he's feeling pretty good, all things considered. If he gets out tomorrow, he will return to the on Friday ...

Went and spent my lunch with Blake today. He's doing really well, and looking great to boot. They have discontinued his TPN and Lipids IV's (for nourishment) because Blake is eating enough to make up for what he needs. That's 2 more IV's he doesn't have to take. They were giving him them at night fo...

A special thanks to the Kanawha football league for all the support they have shown to Blake and his family. They have gone the extra mile to show their support in many ways, to include a fundraiser and raffle of items donated by many companies.

Blake returned to the Hospital Monday morning and he was admitted to begin round 2 of his Chemo. By this point in time, they expected his bone marrow to recover, but it has not. He had 6% blast cells in his Bone Marrow. They consider 5% or less remission. There were so few cells to count from that t...
